HISTORY
FOUNDER
BCN Roller Dance ® was born in 2011 to promote rollerskating through social media, meetups and events. It is currently a talent agency for shows, films and promotional actions on roller skates.
Founded by Michelle Barrios, Visual Communication Designer and former professional dancer, originally from Panama, where she grew up skating every weekend at her local rink called "El Patín Dorado".
Inspired by the skaters of Venice Beach CA, Central Park NYC or Hyde Park London, and after her experience in the artistic world as a dancer, events hostess, singer, advertising model, participant in international competitions (Cosmopolitan Magazine, Pioneer Karaoke Contest), as TV presenter (Univisión, Localia, VJ finalist for the MTV Spain contest) and as a Graphic Designer in international advertising agencies, together with her interest in the internet, experiences and social connections, Michelle has found in BCN Roller Dance the perfect opportunity to develop her vision and her dream.
Over the years, BCN Roller Dance became a benchmark for roller leisure and entertainment activities, acting as a roller jams community, classes, talent agency (filming and shows), event organisation (film screenings, art exhibition ...) and also sports and socio-cultural projects.

Movies & Groove (2012): 1st event in Barcelona, surviving a day of political chaos! Screening of "Roll Bounce" and then party.

Roller Street Dance with Sant Antoni Patina (2013)

Fiesta Roller Dance (2012-2014): series of roller dance parties for all ages.

Expo Dance & Roll (2014): artistic exhibition of roller dance themed with pieces of photography, illustration, cartoon, video, sculpture, graphic design and skates decorated by artists. Special participation from SK8 Fanatics Custom Roller Skates (USA).

International Roller Jam (2012-2014): the organic beginning of what is now the Skate Love Barcelona festival.

Skate Love Barcelona (2015): official start of the international skate music festival.

Roller Vibes (2018-2019): proposal to boost local interest in roller dance (in collaboration with Kapi).

Roller Dreams at the Sports Film Festival (2018): roller dance entertainment and documentary screening on the history of skaters at Venice Beach California.

Patina amb ritme for l’Esport fa Escola (2016-2019): BCN Esports school program. One of the most enriching projects, where we not only instill the taste for roller skates with music, but we instill the value of companionship and enjoyment, the value of being and accepting oneself without complexes, without comparisons.
